What is Karting ?

Karting is a safe road with special structures that make it a suitable place for driving a car and experiencing speed in rally. Many of the limitations found in typical roads and cars are removed in karting tracks; and this makes it attractive to many people. At first glance, karting’s formula cars seem small, like toy cars, but when you get in a car and drive a short distance you will realize that its unique power and speed is far more than a toy.

Most of the Karts of a track don’t differ apparently and they seem alike. There are different companies that manufacture these power cars. Birel Art, Avanti, Tony Kart, Trolley, CRG, Gillard, Intrepid, Margi, Kosmic and Zanardi have a long experience in designing and manufacturing karting cars.

A good kart should weight between 75 to 80 Kg so as to be easily controllable. It is noticeable that a kart will never overturn; i.e. in the worst conditions that you are inexperienced or when your kart collides with other karts, there is never the risk of rollover. Even at the highest speed your kart may just turn out of the main path and turn around.
If you are interested in speed driving and you are capable of winning a rally, just go to Ramsar karting to show your power.

Pre-production:

Creation of karts goes back to 1930s. At that time, these boxes included 3 or 4 tires and were known as soapbox. They were laid on a steep surface and accessed to a high speed without any certain force or motor. Furthermore, by reducing the weight, their speed could increase up to 110 k/h, which was very exciting at that time.
The karts doesn’t have deferential like today’s cars and when they are turning at road not only the front tires turn but also one of the back tires shows flexibility due to direction of the bend to prevent a rollover. This characteristic is used in modern cars of the world. Tires play an important role in car racing and speed control. It must be noted that, tires of these cars are produced by big and popular companies like Bridgeton, Dunlop and Maxis.

Beginning of Karts and their Changes during the Years

As the popularity of the karts increased, more effort and creativity were made to develop their technology and capability up to the point that the first kart was made in California by Lou Boreli and Art Ingels in 1956. That kart was a small one, the chassis of which was made of pipe and its motor was the motor of a West Bend mower. In 1960, the first kart racing was held in Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Denamrk, Belgium, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland and Poland. In 1962, FIA decided to establish CIK (Karting International Committee).

Drivetrain (Typical Karts):

The first driving motor considered for the karts is the small internal combustion block package (two strokes and four strokes). Different companies are working in the field of four strokes packages, the most important of which are Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler and Robin.
These drivetrains often can generate a power of 5 to 20 horsepower. Of course, more powerful models have been manufactured by companies like TKM, Biland and Aiksro which can generate a power of 15 to 50 horsepower for the maximum RPM of 11000.

Most famous producing companies:

Among the companies producing two strokes drivetrains, we can name WTP, Komer, Parrilla, TM, Wortex, Titan, PRD and Rotex that is the most significant one. Their power has been estimated between 8 horsepower for 60 cc to 90 horsepower for 250 cc model.
Other types of engines which are used in karts are electrical engines (often 12W). The weakness of electrical karts is their low maneuverability and short term efficiency, however being non-pollutant and safe is their significant strength. It is believed that the average time of using an electrical kart is 20 minutes.

World Championship :

Superkart is the strongest type of kart which has the capability of reaching the speed of 260 k/h which is an incredible and exciting speed. Kart Formula 1 (Kf1) with simple 125 cc two stroke drivetrains, the maximum weight of 150kg and approximate final speed of 140 km/h can reach from zero to one hundred within a little more than 3 seconds with the help of replacement shifter, by which there is a full control upon 6-speed gearbox.

Global Structure :

Rally or karting is one of the most popular motorsports in the world which has many fans. Global championship in this field which is held annually indoor is called IKWC. EPEC in Europe as an endurance championship of professional karts has many advocates. England is also the host of British Rental Kart Championship (BRKC).

Different Types of Competitions :

The first and the most popular type of karting championship is Sprint. Sprint is a competition performed in determined path with determined race number. Sprint championships sometimes are performed in a form of quarter-mile or 1600 meters. The other type of championship is endurance one, which is performed from 30 minutes to the maximum of 24 hours. It is the same as 24 Hours Le Mans championships. Speedway is speed and acceleration championship in one-sixth mile and one-fourth mile routes. Dispatch of the first motorists group to battleground gave new life to car racing and motor riding. Since 2002, with the attendance of foreign coaches and masters, great and important events have taken place in rally, karting and motorcycling, the most important of which include obtaining the second place in Turkish Cross Country Championship, first place in Asia Road Racing Champion in 2012 and the tenth place in Global Karting Ranking.

Karts from another Point of View :

Undoubtedly, all of the drivers of formula 1, such as Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel benefit from karting for increasing their capabilities to win the champions; and for the drivers of formula 1, karting is like staying in peak preparation.
